Two of the target Birds for most birders visiting Iceland are these
Birds. Of the two, Harlequin is far more widespread and relatively
easy to see. I saw Barrow's Goldeneye at Lake Myvatn only,
where as Harlequin was at many coastal, an inland sites.

Red-necked Phalaropes, Iceland, May 2013
Some images of Phalaropes taken on the west/north coasts of
Iceland. It was a real treat to watch them at such close range
and especially the antics of the females, trying to secure a male,
the term 'dog on heat' comes to mind.
