Buff-Breasted Sandpiper

15th May 2011, Frodsham and a spring Buff-Breast' on tank 6. The bird proved
very popular with twitchers with around 40-50 people coming and going, during
the 45 minutes i was there.

With news breaking of a male Citrine Wagtail, i decided to follow the crowd

and headed for Conwy rspb to twitch it. The bird proved very frustrating as

it kept to the extreme right side of the reserve, hampering viewing. Eventually

it showed, although quite distant. What a stunning bird!

It looked better through the scope!

Golden Eagle

These Golden Eagle images were rescued from my accidentally formatted sd
card, at a cost of £58 by P3 Computers in Burnley, ouch!
Still, i think it was worth it, as they represent the best views of a "Goldie" i've
ever had.

Upper Foulridge

14th May 2011 Another visit to Foulridge Upper Reservoir in the hope the
Wood' Sand' may have stayed overnight. Sadly, as expected, it didn't linger.
A common Sandpiper, 2 Little-Ringed Plovers and 3 Redshank were the
waders present.

At nearby Slipper Hill Reservoir, 3 Little ringed Plovers and 3 Oystercatcher
were on the mud.

13th May 2011, Upper Foulridge Reservoir and a superb Wood Sandpiper was on
the exposed mud in company with Redshank, Little-Ringed Plover and Curlew.
This is the first Wood Sand' ive found on my local patch and a genuinely special
bird for me, magic!

On the Lower Res' there were large numbers of hirundines feeding low over

the water. Around 350, mainly Swallows, followed by Sand then House Martin.

Arctic Terns, Foulridge, 6th May

Four Arctic Terns over Lower Foulridge this morning was very pleasing. I don't see them
every year at the site. Little else of note migrant wise, 2 displaying Little-Ringed Plovers
on the Upper Res' and a Great-Crested Grebe nest left high and dry as the water levels fall.
